Dr. Mary Beth Nunes, PT, DPT, CCRT,CCRP, CERP

Hi everyone! I’m Dr. Mary Beth Nunes – a physical therapist who’s spent most of my career working with humans, but my heart has always been drawn to animals. I earned my Master's degree from UNC-Chapel Hill (Go Tar Heels!) as part of the last class to graduate before the transition to the DPT. Recently, I returned to complete my post-professional Doctor of Physical Therapy, driven by a deep desire to expand my knowledge and better serve both people and their animal companions.

Alongside my human-focused work, I’ve dedicated years to studying manual therapies for animals, as well as holistic healing approaches. I firmly believe that true healing addresses the whole being — mind, body, and spirit — and that philosophy applies to our animals just as much as ourselves.

My mission is to help animals and their humans thrive together throughout every stage of life. I’ve learned some of my most valuable lessons from my own beloved companions — starting with Jack, a sweet Cocker Spaniel who was my very first teacher. From my early pack to working with both domestic and exotic animals, I’ve been blessed with experiences that continue to shape my approach to care.

I am certified in both equine and canine rehabilitation, canine and equine massage/manual therapies, and have studied various holistic modalities including Reiki, communication, craniosacral, and myofascial therapies. I also wholeheartedly believe animals are always communicating with us — we just need to be open and willing to listen.

Though my dear Sophie has crossed the Rainbow Bridge, as a furkid mom of older kiddos I understand the challenge and reward of keeping my aging kiddos going strong! My commitment to caring for aging animals is stronger than ever, especially with my own 13 year old cocker spaniel-Biscuit, 10+ year old staffy-Tardis and PItbull-Toby, and 30+ year old horse Magic!

I am grateful to be able to support the holistic wellness of senior pets and guiding their caregivers through every step of the journey with compassion and knowledge!

Looking forward to meeting you and helping your furry friend rediscover the magic in mobility! Whether you and your pet are dealing with challenges related to pain, surgery, injury, or simply the aging process, we'll work together to make sure your furry companion feels great again!
